The Evolution of Hangar Development: From Tin Sheds to Tactical Assets

Aircraft hangars didn’t always look like this. Once, they were simple metal shells, thin-skinned, barely insulated, and purely utilitarian. But that was a different era. The private aviation landscape has matured, and so have the demands placed on the buildings that support it. Modern hangars, especially at destinations like MLB Melbourne Orlando International Airport, are […]

Why Smart Hangars Are the Future of Private Aviation Infrastructure

Your Aircraft Got Smarter, Did Your Hangar? Private aviation technology has advanced dramatically in recent years. Jets now feature cutting-edge avionics, real-time diagnostics, and integrated digital systems. But most hangars? They’re still stuck in the 1990s. At MLB Melbourne Orlando International Airport, Sabal Aviation is rewriting that script. Smart hangars are the future, and we’re […]

Why Business Leaders Are Investing in Private Hangars

Hangars Are the Overlooked Power Move Private jets are powerful tools, but where they live between flights matters just as much as how they fly. Most owners focus on speed, range, and avionics. But the most forward-thinking ones are turning their attention to what protects those assets long term: high-performance hangars. At MLB Melbourne Orlando […]

What Sets a Sabal Hangar Apart

Storage Is a Commodity. A Sabal Hangar Is a Statement. You don’t buy a private aircraft for convenience, you buy it to take command of your time, your travel, and your trajectory. The same logic should apply to your hangar. At MLB Melbourne Orlando International Airport, Sabal Aviation builds more than aircraft storage, we build […]

The Strategic Edge of Florida Hangar Ownership

A private hangar isn’t just a convenience. It’s a calculated edge. In Florida, where demand for general aviation infrastructure is surging and supply is frozen, ownership is proving to be one of the smartest aviation investments of the decade. Supply Is Frozen FAA data confirms that less than 11% of Florida’s public-use airports have immediate […]

Hot Metal Boxes Don’t Protect Aircraft: The Case for Hangar Climate Control

In Florida, a poorly insulated hangar isn’t just uncomfortable – it’s destructive. High heat, humidity, and salt air are relentless enemies of aluminum, avionics, and composite materials. If your hangar lacks insulation and climate control, your aircraft isn’t protected – it’s exposed. Let’s get clear on why insulation and A/C matter – and why Sabal […]

Precision from the Ground Up: Taxiway Prep Begins at MLB Phase One

In aviation development, nothing takes flight without first conquering the ground. This week, Sabal Aviation’s construction team began soil mixing and compaction for the primary taxiway at our MLB site – one of the most critical steps in Phase One. The objective? Create a subgrade with the structural integrity to support taxiing jets, heavy-duty tugs, […]

Phase One MLB Hangar Construction Update – Side B Reaches New Milestone

Concrete Set. Walls Up. Sabal’s East Line Expands. Sabal Aviation’s hangar development at Melbourne Orlando International Airport continues to advance with precision and momentum. While Side A’s steel and concrete have long stood tall, this week marks a major turning point: Side B now has walls, signaling a new chapter in the east line’s rapid […]

Are Florida Hangars Really in Short Supply? Here’s What the Numbers Say.

The Truth Behind Florida’s Hangar Shortage If you’ve been trying to find hangar space in Florida, you’ve already felt the pinch. Waiting lists stretch months – sometimes years. But is the shortage real? Or just market noise? Let’s break down the numbers, then explore what it means for you. The Data Doesn’t Lie According to […]

Hangar Construction Timing: Why Momentum Matters for Aircraft Owners

The Aviation Industry Doesn’t Wait. Neither Do We. For aircraft owners, time equals money. Whether you’re relocating operations, taking delivery of a new aircraft, or investing in hangar real estate, delays cost more than days – they cost opportunity. That’s why Sabal Aviation prioritizes construction velocity with zero compromise on quality. Phase 1 at MLB […]

Why MLB’s Phase 1 Hangars Are More Than Just Square Footage

Hangars Are Easy. Aviation Infrastructure Is Not. At Sabal Aviation, we don’t build metal buildings – we build precision infrastructure for aircraft owners, private pilots, and serious operators. MLB Phase 1 proves that point. From slab to span, every square foot is engineered for long-term operational success and regulatory compliance. Let’s break down what makes […]

Phase 1 Construction Update at MLB: Walls Up, Progress Locked In

Lifting the Standard at Melbourne Orlando International Phase 1 of Sabal Aviation’s development at Melbourne International Airport (MLB) is officially vertical. With the concrete slab fully poured and cured on Side A – and walls now standing – we’ve moved from groundwork to structure. On Side B, the slab is in place and wall erection […]

Innovations in Modern Hangar Technology

As global air traffic increases and aircraft become more advanced, the technology behind hangar construction is evolving rapidly. Today’s aviation facilities are no longer just storage spaces – they’re integrated systems designed for efficiency, sustainability, and operational control.

Second Slab Pour Marks Key Milestone at MLB Hangars

Progress continues on Phase 1 of Sabal Aviation’s Hangar Development project at Melbourne International Airport, with the successful completion of the second concrete slab pour. This stage marks a critical step in the foundation work and sets the pace for the structural development of the new aviation facilities.

The pour took place under precise scheduling and coordination with our on-site teams, ensuring proper curing conditions and high structural integrity. Over 300 cubic yards of concrete were placed using industrial-grade rebar reinforcement, engineered to handle the load demands of next-generation hangar operations. With Florida’s fluctuating weather patterns, timing was everything, and our crews worked efficiently to deliver quality without compromise.

This second slab pour completes the foundation of the Phase 1 hangar units, designed to accommodate heavy-duty aviation activity and provide direct access to the runway. As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, contractor Brandon Development is partnering with aviation engineers to ensure all infrastructure meets FAA compliance and future-proof operational needs.

As we look ahead to vertical construction, the groundwork laid ensures resilience, durability, and performance. Stay tuned for more updates as we begin forming the structural skeleton of the hangar in the coming weeks.
