The Strategic Edge of Florida Hangar Ownership
A private hangar isn’t just a convenience. It’s a calculated edge. In Florida, where demand for general aviation infrastructure is surging and supply is frozen, ownership is proving to be one of the smartest aviation investments of the decade. Supply Is Frozen FAA data confirms that less than 11% of Florida’s public-use airports have immediate […]
Hot Metal Boxes Don’t Protect Aircraft: The Case for Hangar Climate Control
In Florida, a poorly insulated hangar isn’t just uncomfortable – it’s destructive. High heat, humidity, and salt air are relentless enemies of aluminum, avionics, and composite materials. If your hangar lacks insulation and climate control, your aircraft isn’t protected – it’s exposed. Let’s get clear on why insulation and A/C matter – and why Sabal […]
Precision from the Ground Up: Taxiway Prep Begins at MLB Phase One
In aviation development, nothing takes flight without first conquering the ground. This week, Sabal Aviation’s construction team began soil mixing and compaction for the primary taxiway at our MLB site – one of the most critical steps in Phase One. The objective? Create a subgrade with the structural integrity to support taxiing jets, heavy-duty tugs, […]
Why a Fully Plumbed Hangar is the Smartest Investment You Can Make
Unmatched Utility. Elevated Resale. Full Plumbing Delivers Both. In aviation, every square foot of your hangar should serve a purpose. You already demand excellence in your aircraft, your operations, and your location. So why settle for a hangar that’s just four walls and a roof? Plumbing your hangar isn’t a luxury – it’s a strategic […]
Florida’s Hangar Crisis – What’s Fueling the Shortage in 2025
129 Airports. Not Enough Hangars. Florida has long been a haven for private aviation. With no state income tax, world-class weather, and more than 129 public-use airports, it should be a paradise for aircraft owners. But in 2025, the reality tells a different story: the state is in the middle of a full-blown hangar crisis. […]

Concrete Set. Walls Up. Sabal’s East Line Expands. Sabal Aviation’s hangar development at Melbourne Orlando International Airport continues to advance with precision and momentum. While Side A’s steel and concrete have long stood tall, this week marks a major turning point: Side B now has walls, signaling a new chapter in the east line’s rapid […]
How to Choose the Right Hangar Location in Florida
Location is Lift. Choose with Precision. In aviation, geography is strategy. The right hangar location isn’t just about where – it’s about why. Whether you’re protecting personal assets, scaling charter ops, or supporting a fractional ownership model, your base matters. Here’s what high-performing aviators consider when choosing a hangar in Florida: 1. Airspace and Runway […]
Why Owning a Hangar is the Smartest Move in Private Aviation
Own the Asset. Command the Altitude. For those who value quality, hangar ownership isn’t just a preference – it’s a play for control, stability, and long-term value. In an industry where flexibility and readiness define performance, relying on someone else’s infrastructure limits your altitude. Here’s what seasoned aviators already know: owning a hangar is not […]
Why MLB’s Phase 1 Hangars Are More Than Just Square Footage

Top 5 Mistakes to Avoid When Building Your Aircraft Hangar
Building a Hangar? Don’t Wing It. We’ve seen it too many times: pilots or property owners rushing into a hangar project, only to backtrack later due to poor planning, zoning hurdles, or structural oversights. Here’s how to avoid the five most common mistakes when building a hangar. Mistake #1 – Ignoring Local Zoning & Permits […]
How Much Does a Custom Hangar Cost in Florida?
Price Is What You Pay. Value Is What You Build. A custom aircraft hangar is a serious investment. But unlike typical construction, hangar pricing is driven by aviation-specific variables – from wind load requirements to FAA setback regulations. If you’re searching for “custom hangar cost in Florida,” here’s what you need to know. 1. The […]
What to Look for When Buying a Custom Aircraft Hangar
Elevate Your Standards. Grounded in Precision. Buying a custom hangar isn’t about space – it’s about strategy. Your aircraft is a high-performance asset. Second Slab Pour Marks Key Milestone at MLB Hangars
Progress continues on Phase 1 of Sabal Aviation’s Hangar Development project at Melbourne International Airport, with the successful completion of the second concrete slab pour. This stage marks a critical step in the foundation work and sets the pace for the structural development of the new aviation facilities.
The pour took place under precise scheduling and coordination with our on-site teams, ensuring proper curing conditions and high structural integrity. Over 300 cubic yards of concrete were placed using industrial-grade rebar reinforcement, engineered to handle the load demands of next-generation hangar operations. With Florida’s fluctuating weather patterns, timing was everything, and our crews worked efficiently to deliver quality without compromise.
This second slab pour completes the foundation of the Phase 1 hangar units, designed to accommodate heavy-duty aviation activity and provide direct access to the runway. As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, contractor Brandon Development is partnering with aviation engineers to ensure all infrastructure meets FAA compliance and future-proof operational needs.
As we look ahead to vertical construction, the groundwork laid ensures resilience, durability, and performance. Stay tuned for more updates as we begin forming the structural skeleton of the hangar in the coming weeks.
